The Mykola Pyrohov estate museum
The estate of the celebrated surgeon, with its park and pharmacy — one of Vinnytsia's best-known sights.
The National Mykola Pyrohov Estate Museum is where the celebrated surgeon spent the last twenty years of his life and kept working.
The grounds still hold the family house with personal belongings and medical instruments, a pharmacy, a park and a church-necropolis. The exhibition covers not only nineteenth-century medicine but also the everyday life of the scientist's household.
Practical notes
- the museum is outside the centre; city transport or a taxi both work
- allow around two hours for the house and the park
- this is one of the places people travel to Vinnytsia specifically to see
It combines well with a walk through the centre and the evening Roshen fountain show.
